THE UNDERTAKING
503 people died when Malcolm Merlyn's undertaking came into affect.
The Undertaking came to be when a group of wealthy and powerful men came together in order to save the city from it's crime and corruption. They would put pressure on the corrupt, and support the local heroes of the police departments. Some of these men were Malcolm Merlyn (who's wife was robbed and murdered in the Glade), Robert Queen (who refused to give bribes, and in am altercation killed the man), Frank Chen (who's daughter was raped).
Merlyn wanted a faster way to help the city, and in 2007 decided by himself that the best way to do this was by leveling the Glades and building anew. Robert Queen disagreed, but was 'killed' before he could try to stop Malcolm when he was betrayed by Frank Chen; Oliver Queen was with his father at the time. Moria Queen took her husband's place in The Undertaking.
Using a device from Unidac Industries, called 'The Markov Device', Malcolm planted it in the Glades to bring it down. The firs device was disarmed by (then detective) Lance with the aid of Felicity Smoak. However unknown to all, there was a second device.
Many lives were saved by Moria Queen breaking her silence on the even of the event, however much blame rested with her as well.
