Vertigo
Vertigo is a dangerous narcotic created by The Count. It is most often used by customers in the form of a pill. It creates extreme disorientation in its users.
When injected directly into a persona's blood stream in its purest form, it affects the thalamus. This is where all the information from pain receptors are collected so then causes the victim to believe that they are in extreme, excrutiating pain. The effects can last for days until the heart can no longer take it, gives up, and just stops.
The Count was apprehended and sent to a mental institution where he was kept prisoner. With The Count's arrest, Vertigo began to disappear from the market and it seemed as if the drug would no longer be a concern.
However, some time later, a new version of Vertigo was back in circualation. The Count had 'escaped' and brought a new version of his drug back. This time, there were large doses of a medical drug in this new version of Vertigo. It was later discovered that the Count had not exactly escaped; he was set up by Dr. Webb who had taken the original Vertigo formula and added to it to make it a different kind. He was killed and the production of this new version of Vertigo stopped with his death.
Several months later, a mysterious illness began to infect the city, leaving hundreds of poeple unwell. Traces of Vertigo was found in a patient's blood and it is discovered that during The Glades Earthquake, the Count escaped from prison and began distributing his drug once again, only this time, in a different manner. He infected unwilling people, and he changed the formula so the original antidote would not work. It's Vertigo withdrawal that is making everyone sick and the only way to cure them is to give them another dose of Vertigo. The Count reveals this in a city wide broadcast, using one of his victims as an example.
Once again, he is stopped by The Arrow, and this time instead of being apprehended, he is killed. An antidote for the victimss' smyptoms was administered and since then, there has been no mention of Vetigo making a comeback in the city.
