Nemo sighed, and let the small crowd around her erupt in cheers and applause for a few minutes before she discretely joined in. She had to admit, that man knew how to talk to the masses. Not that she considered herself someone who belonged to the masses... And yet. She wasn’t even politically engaged, but she had hanged on to his every word. The Undertaking, of course, was a big subject, but Sebastian Blood was way too smart a guy to rely on it too much. No, his selling points were way more universal: hope, change, a bright future… It could have been a commercial. It was strange the way she could almost take his whole discourse apart, see the exact way it was built and on what pressure points he was pushing, and still believe in everything he said. Every fucking damn thing.
She gazed at the guy for a moment. What was it about him that got people moving? He didn’t even look like a politician… Right. He didn’t. He just looked like someone from the neighborhood who had suddenly taken up arms against the rich and powerful out of pure indignation. That was probably what made him so popular. He was approachable, relatable, and he spoke plainly.
She hesitated for a moment. He was already surrounded by a few supporters, but she could reach him… If she wanted to. Did she want to? She wasn’t sure. Of what value would it be to him, to hear a random chick praise him for what he said? Besides, she wasn’t involved in his campaign. Coming to this speech thing was the most she had ever done for the future of Starling. And she had no intention of trying either. It wasn’t like she could make a change anyway. Going on with her insignificant life was good enough for her.
Still… She felt that if she didn’t say something now, she would regret it. Though she couldn’t have said why, it seemed important. Some of the things he said, they were important.
She fought a way through the few fans, and found herself facing Starling City’s latest political hero. Suddenly very conscious of her shapeless jacket and her complete lack of posture, a bit breathless, Nemo still managed to babble: - Hey! I was in the quake. Huh… I… You know, I didn’t think anyone cared for people like me. So, thanks. That’s nice to know. Great. Not ridiculous or whiny at all. She silently cursed herself for that.

Sebastian had just finished another speech. Getting people on his side was a necessity. After all, without the support of the public, all the plans that he had so carefully laid out would go to waste. Which made these speeches, a mere stepping stone in his imminent electoral campaign, a necessity as well. The applause of the oppressed rung out as he wrapped up his speech, and Sebastian Blood waited for the crowd to mingle and his supporters to join him for the customary talks.
He recognized the supporters that joined him. Small business owners that helped advertise his speeches and campaigns, the rare rich person trying to make themselves look good by participating in the campaign of someone promising change, and other assorted people like the editor of a local newspaper. All giving him their words of encouragement. But none of these people truly cared about changing the city for the good of itself. They cared about changing it for themselves. To increase the amount of revenue and the benefits they could bleed the city dry of. But he played the part of affability, if nothing else than for the sake of furthering his campaign. Time would tell whether or not these people would prove useful beyond campaign support.
It was then that a common person, one that he had never seen before, approached him. He was used to random people approaching to give him their praise. It seemed as if this girl would be no different. As she approached and said what she had to say, Sebastian gave a cordial smile and excused himself from his supporters to speak to this citizen of the Glades.
"Hello, it's so nice to know I have the support of the people of the Glades. I am going to do my best to make sure this city makes amends for what it did the day of the quake. I'm sorry, I don't quite think I caught your name Miss...?"

She was blushing like a schoolgirl, if she was to believe the heat she felt on her cheeks. Ridiculous. At worst, she could lie through her teeth and say she was cold, even if she was actually boiling in heat. Why the hell was she reacting like that? She who took pride in verbally putting people in their place, transforming into a giggling schoolgirl just because she was meeting someone famous? He wasn’t even that famous, merely popular that was all. The fact that he – politely, but still – got rid of the other supporters to start a conversation with her didn’t help with the silent fangirling. She couldn’t help but feel a bit suspicious about that, but appreciated it nonetheless. Maybe he wanted to be seen with a quake survivor… Maybe he was into super-young girls, like most politicians. Right. And while she was at it, maybe he was secretly a vampire dreaming to drink her blood. Maybe if she cut the crap, she would have a shot at being taken seriously.
Well, to be fair, she had barely paid attention to the very political answer that ensued. Basically, thanks, blah blah, I will make a great ruler, you will have justice, classy way of asking your name… Wait, what? Why would Sebastian Blood ask for her name? She slightly tilted her head at him, an incredulous expression tainting her face, while she couldn’t help but mutter: - I didn’t … say my name. For a few seconds, her mind froze. He was probably just being polite. What was so disquieting about him being polite? It just seemed really weird for him to care about the names of his numerous faceless minions. Especially totally useless ones like her. Anyway, she would have time to analyze the situation later. For now, not staring like a tiny, suspicious rabbit would be nice. She shook off the feeling of awkwardness, and did her best to smile. - Sorry. Guess I thought you wouldn’t actually talk to people. Everyone calls me Nemo. Mostly herself, right now, but he didn’t need to know that. Eager to not let an uncomfortable silence settle in the air, she struggled to find something to say. Great. Henceforth she would be known as “Embarrassing Fan Encounter N°238”. - I was into drugs and self-destruction before the undertaking happened. Funny how things work out, huh? Biggest catastrophe to ever happen in this city, kills hundreds of people, and yet jumpstarts a small insignificant person into wanting to live again.
… She hadn’t really thought about how that would sound to someone who had made the Undertaking his warhorse. Well, at least she had found her usual self again. The exact one that didn’t think twice before talking. She marked a pause, then added: - I’m not … Defending it or anything, I’m just saying … It set certain things in motion. Including you, now that I think of it, right?
